GM-D7400M Power Amplifiers

Class-D amplifiers overcome the inefficiencies of traditional Class-A or AB amplifiers. Pioneers Class-D amps transform very little power into heat while a very high percentage of the power supply (67 %) is transformed into the load. This results in a very compact amp which needs little input power to produce very high output power. The Class-D amplifiers PWM (Pulse Width Modulator) modulates the original audio input signal with another signal which has a much higher fixed frequency. The result is a digital signal which contains the input signal and a band of frequency components around the modulation frequency. A LPF (Low Pass Filter) will then filter out the high frequency pulses and the resulting amplified output signal is then sent to the subwoofer and/or speakers. Features

• Gain ControlThe Pioneer GM analogue amplifiers are all equipped with the Gain Control, a protective function that prevents malfunction of the unit itself, as well as the speakers, caused by too much output, improper use and improper connection. Even when the amplifiers are connected to the headunits with high-voltage pre-outs, the signal is not clipped or distorted if the gain control is set to proper position, so high S/N (Signal-to-Noise) ratio is realized in the speaker level signal. To ensure continuous audio output, the amplifier's gain control must be set according to the pre-out maximum output level of the headunit. There is no need to decrease the volume of the headunit, as too much output will be controlled.
• Same Powerful Output from a More Compact Amplifier
  A Class-D amp matches a more power-hungry conventional ampfs output, but emits less hear. For better sound quality and safer, more stable amplification power, Pioneer designed their Class-D amp circuitry to provide 2 output that is twice as powerful as 4 output from less efficient amplifiers.
